Campaigning FAQs

What’s involved?

There are a wide range of ways you can get involved when you sign up to campaign with us, both from home or in your community, including:

  • Evaluating written materials
  • Review our policy positions
  • Promote our campaigns on social media
  • Share experiences with friends or fellow campaigners in the community to raise awareness and ask them to do the same
  • Meeting your MP in your constituency on behalf of other patients and caregivers to talk about our current campaigns, and keeping up a conversation with them
  • Attending a training day, lobbying event or day of actions

The amount of time you give or level of involvement is completely down to you.

What skills or experience do I need to become a campaigner?

You don’t need any campaigning experience. If you have been personally affected by a brain tumour or knowing a loved one with a diagnosis, you’re an expert through your experiences.

If you have not been personally affected you can still be a great campaigner, the Policy team will support with everything you need to be involved.

By sharing your story and personal experiences, as well as your passion for change, you can help influence decision makers, raise awareness, help shape our campaigns and lead our drive for change.

What if I can’t give much time?

The level of involvement or how much time you can give is entirely down to you. Whatever time you can spare, we’d love you to campaign alongside us.

There isn’t a set pattern to campaigning activity and because the political landscape can change quickly it can be hard to predict when we’ll need you. But rest assured that we will call upon you when we need you and, together, we will help make an impact for those affected by a brain tumour.

Will I receive any support or training?

Having a willingness to be involved, or a personal story to share, and using it to campaign for better conditions for all those affected by a brain tumour is all you need. Nevertheless, our Policy team are always on hand to provide information, advice and guidance.

If you have any questions, please email policy@thebraintumourcharity.org.
