Campaigning in Wales

Around 400 people are diagnosed with a brain or CNS tumour every year in Wales, contributing to the 12,700 people diagnosed across the UK. Our work in Wales ensures that our community’s voice is heard by policymakers.

As health is a devolved matter, we work with the Welsh Government to improve all parts of the patient pathway for those affected by brain tumours.

Our work in the Senedd

In March 2025, the Policy team were proud to host our first parliamentary reception at the Senedd to mark Brain Tumour Awareness Month.

We had a fantastic turnout from members of the community, healthcare professionals, and engaged Members of the Senedd (MSs). Our sponsoring MS, Julie Morgan (former Deputy Health Minister), alongside our own Cameron Miller, opened the event.

Our Welsh Young Ambassador, and high profile influencer, Molly Fenton, delivered a powerful speech about her own experience of living with a glioma.

Members of our community who shared their experience with Members of the Senedd at the 2025 parliamentary reception, along with our high profile supporter Sian Reese-Williams, and our Director of Policy and Strategy Cameron Miller.

Parliamentary drop-in at the Senedd

To raise awareness and talk about our #ItsANoBrainer campaign calling for a National Brain Tumour strategy, our Welsh community members met with Members of the Senedd to talk about their experiences of brain tumour diagnosis pathways, care, treatment and research in Wales.

Working on partnership in Wales

The Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce Wales sub-group

We are a founding member of The Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce (LSCT). The LSCT represents the ‘less survivable cancers’, lung, liver, brain, oesophageal, pancreatic and stomach, all with a five-year survival rate of less than 20% following decades of underfunding.

The Taskforce has a Wales based working group that focuses on working to improve the lives of those diagnosed with a less survivable cancer in Wales by holding the Welsh Government to account.

Wales Cancer Alliance

The Wales Cancer Alliance is a coalition of charities working to improve cancer care, fund research and influence policy in Wales.

As well as our wider involvement in the coalition, we are members of the clinical trials subgroup, where we work together to improve patient access to clinical trials in Wales.

The Wales Neurological Alliance

The Wales Neurological Alliance is a forum of not-for-profit organisations and groups representing many thousands of people affected by neurological conditions in Wales. As part of this coalition, we work together to improve the care and support that people with neurological conditions receive.

In partnership with members, the Alliance supports people with neurological conditions in Wales in living the best life possible through influencing policy, raising awareness and developing services.
