Our Involvement Champions

Current opportunities

Applications for our Involvement Champion role is currently closed. We recruited our 2023-25 cohort of Involvement Champions in July 2023 and therefore applications will re-open in 2025.

If you are keen on getting involved in our work in the meantime, please register to join our Involvement Network.

At The Charity one of our values is being community first. We want to ensure that our community is our priority, and we are working in partnership with them in all we do. We’re here to accelerate a positive change in how people affected by brain tumours are diagnosed, supported and cured.

As part of that aim, we’ve created a two-year role, providing the opportunity for our community to use their experiences of being affected by a brain tumour diagnosis to play an active role in helping to shape our work and support decision making across The Charity.

We’re looking for members of our community with personal experience (either yourself or a loved one), who are passionate about creating change and improving outcomes for everyone affected by a brain tumour.

Involvement Champions represent the brain tumour community, using their own experiences of being affected by a brain tumour diagnosis to help shape our work, but also taking into account the issues and challenges that affect our wider community.

All monthly meetings take place virtually so you can get involved wherever you live. However, there are also opportunities to attend in person events.

FAQs

We will open the application process on this page again in 2025. You are required to fill out an online form to express your interest in the role. The Involvement Team will then conduct an informal interview with you to discuss your experience and how you would like to contribute to the work we do here at The Charity. Individuals who are a suitable fit for the Involvement Champion role will then be contacted.

The meetings will be held on a weekday evening once a month, on Zoom.

The involvement team will share any new opportunities during our monthly meetings in addition to sharing all opportunities on a volunteering based app called Volunteero.

The opportunities will be presented to all the Involvement Champions. Anyone who is interested in getting involved can put themselves forward. This is your time you are offering to volunteer, so we will leave it completely up to you to determine what you would like to get involved in.

Our main priority is your personal wellbeing. You may find the role tough at times and that’s okay. You can always take a step back from being active in your role as Involvement Champion. We also encourage all of our Involvement Champions to reach out to our Support team should they need to. You can find all of our support information here.

Please let us know by emailing the involvement inbox (involvement@thebraintumourcharity.org)

All of the meetings are recorded, so if you are unable to attend, you can still watch the recordings at your own convenience.

Yes, members from various teams at the charity will frequently join our monthly meetings to present opportunities or to give you feedback on your contributions.

You can step away from the role whenever you need to. Your wellbeing will always take priority, and we will always be here to support you.

Hopefully yes! We plan to arrange at least two opportunities for you to all meet in person. One of these opportunities will involve you visiting our office in Fleet, Hampshire.

Our contributions as volunteers means our own experiences and knowledge help play a really important part in contributing to the awareness and further success of the Charity and its ongoing pursuits to improve medical research, which in turn improves the lives of those battling this hidden yet serious health condition.
