After his mum was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in 2013, Hal Cruttenden has supported The Charity in more ways than one. But his trek across the Sahara was his biggest challenge yet. Walking an incredible 100km across the desert, The British Comedian has done so much to help accelerate a cure.

Hal Cruttenden’s brain tumour charity motivation
Hal’s mum, Julia Cruttenden, was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumour in January 2013. Despite her diagnosis, at 74 she was grateful to have lived a “wonderful life”. Hal and his family spent their final months together creating happy memories in between operations and rounds of chemo and radio therapy.
Living through this tragic year and experiencing first-hand the devastation of a brain tumour diagnosis, Hal was determined to make a difference. He couldn’t believe that brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of adults and children under 40, yet they receive less than 3% of funding into cancer research.
Hal Cruttenden’s Sahara Trek
Hal knew he wanted to do his part to accelerate a cure. He committed to trekking 100 km through the Sahara Desert this October. Unsurprisingly, this tremendous feat didn’t come without its challenges.
Despite his blistered feet and the sweltering heat, Hal’s determination and quick wit saw him through. He completed the challenge and raised an amazing £7,000 to further funds to improve brain tumour research.
