Nicki’s music biz career
The book is a rollercoaster ride through pop culture, showcasing Nicki’s involvement with the likes of Take That, Robbie Williams, Ant and Dec, David Bowie, Prince and the Spice Girls, then presenting acclaimed TV shows alongside Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.
Nicki’s career has spanned the music entertainment industry for years, including her roles as a judge on Pop Idol and Popstars and as a music PR and agent. She is now TV presenter and a Radio 2 host.
Speaking to The Times magazine:
“I was thrown in at the deep end,” she recalls of her early days in Soho, when the rest of the office headed off for extremely long lunches. “So I’d be on my own, fielding calls. But I could cope. The music industry was brilliant fun then — no algorithms, just love, sweat, tears. Music moves me and I’m not a snob at all, but equally I’m no expert. I just know what people like.“
Nicki’s support for The Brain Tumour Charity
Since Nicki’s meningioma brain tumour diagnosis in 2019 and subsequent surgery to remove it, she has been one of our hugely-valued High Profile Supporters.
She continues to support the work we do, raising awareness and campaigning for change for everyone affected. She presented our BBC Lifeline Appeal in September 2023 (below left) and was also shortlisted for a Third Sector Award for her work with us.
Alongside other High Profile Supporters, Nicki attended the launch of our campaign for a National Brain Tumour Strategy ahead of Brain Tumour Awareness Month (BTAM) in March 2024 (below right with comedian and High Profile Supporter Hal Cruttenden).
On her support for The Brain Tumour Charity, Nicki says: “I want to do whatever I can do to help raise awareness and help others understand that they’re not alone in this.”
