With the season changing, the clocks moving forward and the sun begining to show its face, spring is the perfect time for fundraising.
As well as taking part in our spring events, there are lots of ways you can help accelerate a cure that are lots of fun and easy to organise. These activities are great for if you’re just getting started with fundraising, as well as helping top up your ongoing fundraisers too!
Get baking
Passionate about baking and fundraising for cures? Sounds like it’s time to get ready to crumble and host a bake sale! Whether you’re selling sponge cakes at school or haggling over hot cross buns at your local village fete, bake sales are a surefire hit when it comes to fundraising.
And, we’ve got lots of resources available that’ll help make raising dough a doddle.
Have a spring clean
Spring is the perfect time for a clear-out and with platforms like Vinted, Ebay and DEPOP more popular than ever, it’s never been easier to raise money while doing so.
Whether you’d prefer to donate everything you earn or a portion of every sale, mentioning this in your listing could even help you sell your unwanted items for higher prices.
It’s the perfect way to declutter while defeating brain tumours!
Ask people to donate the cost of an Easter egg
Easter is a great time to share your fundraising page on social media because many people are already the giving mood.
Asking people to donate the cost of an Easter egg is a wonderfully seasonal example of micro-fundraising, which is the practice of asking people for smaller donations that add up to a big impact when a lot of people donate. For example, for every six people who donate £5, it could fund the cost of bringing comfort to a child diagnosed with a brain tumour by sending them a Brainy Bag and bear.
Organise a collection tin
Leaving one of our snazzy, eco-friendly collection tins at work or in a busy local shop, gym or pub, is a great way to raise funds and spread awareness of the cause.
If you contact our Supporter Care team by emailing enquiries@thebraintumourcharity.org or phoning 01252 749043, they’ll be able to put you in touch with somebody locally who can arrange for you to pick up a collection tin.
Host a quiz night
Whether you make the most of the sunshine in a pub garden or capitalise on the April showers by hosting a quiz inside, spring is the perfect time to embrace your inner quizmaster by hosting a charity quiz night.
To raise money at a quiz night, most people charge an entry fee, as well as passing around a collection tin or bucket between rounds. A great way to encourage people to take part is to contact local businesses to see if they’ll donate prizes that have everybody excited to win.
Alternatively, you could host a raffle or a bingo night.
Take on a sponsored challenge
From sponsored silences and headshaves to skydives and abseils, there are endless ways to get creative with your spring fundraising.
If you have hobbies that you’re passionate about, you could even turn those into fundraising opportunities too, like our supporters who’ve hosted art exhibitions or taken on gaming challenges to raise money.
From our adrenaline-chasing extreme fundraisers to the exceptional efforts of our young fundraisers, we truly appreciate everything you do to support the brain tumour community. And every single penny you raise goes towards helping people affected by a brain tumour live longer, better lives.
However you decide to fundraise this spring, make sure you check out our fundraising resources and tips for sharing your fundraising page.
