Aegon is a pension, investment and protection provider serving over 3.5 million customers in the UK.
The company is part of the Aegon group, one of the world’s largest insurance companies, and in the UK they employ around 3,000 staff.
John Moos from the Aegon Charity Committee said: “Aegon puts the choice of charities we support in the hands of our staff who nominate and vote for deserving causes.
“This year we’re delighted to be supporting The Brain Tumour Charity and will be running a number of fundraising activities to try and raise as much as possible.
“In previous years, we’ve run events such as skydives, Tough Mudders and climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mt Snowdon in 24 hours, as well as regular ‘Bring a Pound to Work’ Days, raffles and cake bakes. All our staff are always very enthusiastic about our charity work.”
Aegon staff voted to support The Brain Tumour Charity after one of their colleagues, Susan Chalmers, who had worked there for 23 years, sadly passed away in October 2018 after an 11-year battle against a glioblastoma.
Her husband, Andy, along with her close friend Lesley, who also work for Aegon, nominated The Charity in her memory so that a lasting legacy could come from her courageous fight.
Andy said: “I wanted to help and recognise the work that The Brain Tumour Charity have done in helping Susan through her illness in the hope that the research can help other families avoid going through what we have but if they face it they don’t have to do it alone and can have the support they so badly need.
“The love and support from everyone in Aegon has been incredible and we hope to raise as much money as possible for a fantastic charity.”
Thank you to everyone at Aegon, we are excited about what the year ahead will bring.
