The Albie Sugden Foundation, set up in early 2024, has pledged £100,000 to The Brain Tumour Charity over 5 years to fund research into paediatric high grade brain tumours to help other families find hope in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
Albie’s Story
At just one year of age, Albie Sugden was abruptly and cruelly diagnosed with an atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumour (AT/RT), an aggressive form of brain cancer which affects the central nervous system. He lived cheerfully and bravely for 12 months, with positivity, sweetness and smiles, despite the gruelling treatment he went through.
“Albie is the heartbeat”
Albie’s parents, Jane and Luke, set up The Albie Sugden Foundation shortly after his passing in October 2023 and are determined that Albie’s legacy will live on in the work of the charity. They are passionate about giving hope to families in the worst of circumstances and want Albie’s memory to live on in the work they achieve.
Philanthropy Officer at The Brain Tumour Charity, Anna Taylor, said “We are so grateful to The Albie Sugden Foundation for choosing to partner with us and fund vital paediatric research. The strength and compassion they show in the wake of the most devastating circumstances is so admirable and we cannot wait to see what we can achieve together, in Albie’s memory. It is such a privilege to partner with families to make a difference to those living with brain tumours and we extend our heartfelt thanks to The Albie Sugden Foundation and all their supporters.”
