What is the Cancer Tech Accelerator?
The Cancer Tech Accelerator (CTA) is an exciting initiative revolutionising cancer research funding. The goal of this programme is to fast-track the efforts of dedicated cancer researchers, making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients. Specifically, the CTA focuses on supporting projects that enhance cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
How is The Brain Tumour Charity involved?
The Brain Tumour Charity has joined this innovative funding programme to offer up to £70,000 of funding for research projects in the field of brain tumours. We are joining a coalition of funding partners including Cancer Research UK, Cancer Research Horizons, Blood Cancer UK and LifeArc.
The programme kicks off with a five-day boot camp where researchers gain insights from experts in their field, learning essential skills to critically evaluate, pitch, and develop their research ideas. Successful researchers progress through various phases during over several months, connecting with oncology experts, accomplished technology founders, and the CTA investment network.
In the initial phase, researchers pitch their ideas to an expert panel, competing for a chance to secure a grant of up to £70k. This funding empowers researchers to conduct pivotal proof-of-concept experiments, validating and advancing their concepts towards start-up readiness. Awarded teams receive ongoing support from a network of scientific experts, to help the rapid development of their research so it can have an impact on patients faster.
