Life admin. It’s something many of us are guilty of shying away from. Including me.
After a busy day, the last thing I feel like is doing those tasks that could wait just one more day. Opening the bills, sorting the finances, thinking about my Will…
But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt from my time as Information and Support Services Manager at The Brain Tumour Charity, it’s that we just don’t know what’s around the corner. A big part of my role is providing guidance to people contacting our Information and Support services.
On a daily basis, my team can take calls on everything from those looking for information about symptoms, how to access clinical trials and where to seek benefits advice, to people calling to update us on their progress or because they simply need a listening ear. Every day we are inspired by the stories we hear.
One of the hardest parts of my job however is hearing, all too often, that people just didn’t see their diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a loved one, coming. Multiple visits to GPs and delayed diagnosis are something that are all too common.
Where there’s a Will
Being diagnosed with any serious health condition, including a brain tumour, is traumatic enough, without then having to think about getting your affairs in order. While we provide vital resources to help guide people through this difficult time, some of them – including our new free Will writing service – can be used at any stage of life.
Many of us put off writing our Will. However, having an up-to-date Will is the only way you can ensure that the people and causes you care about are looked after in the way you intend. It’s your chance to leave nothing unsaid and nothing undone.
Thinking about writing a Will can be a daunting process, but it’s quick, simple and easy through the National Free Wills Network. And best of all, it doesn’t cost a penny.
All our supporters, regardless of their connection with us, can make use of our free Will writing services with the National Free Wills Network.
There’s absolutely no pressure or obligation to include a gift to us when doing so – however, any gift, no matter how small, can help to accelerate progress towards a cure.
Our Will writing services are free to everyone, regardless of your circumstances and with that in mind, I’m not going to put off sorting out my own Will any more. I’m registering with the National Free Wills network today!
